The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
