In November 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, was in the UK to deliver a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The speech was disrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down my talk don't think I can catch the plane we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein replied: "That. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an excellent helper".

These messages were released on Wednesday alongside over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the deceased convicted sex offender.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is withheld. The BBC has been able to confirm his identity by cross-referencing the timeline, occurrences, and locations referenced.

For instance, Epstein talks about chartering a plane from Scotland for the redacted user in the chat, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union two days later.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

Epstein's Assurance to Bannon

Bannon served as the president's key advisers in the run up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the administration in August 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a documentary about Epstein prior to his death and reportedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his podcast earlier this year, he said: "We plan to publish the series, the five-part series, in the coming year - at the start of next year."

But the recently disclosed materials indicate Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier at times appearing to serve like a aide.

A short time before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the highest-paid booking agent in history ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are pretty good assistant", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a visit to "AD" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of."

UK Politics Discussed in Exchanges

The published messages also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in that year.

On the day of his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the EU exit thing this morning with Farage, Boris and Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a reference to Theresa May, the embattled UK prime minister at the period, he continued: "They are attempting to proceed. may today / tomorrow…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "In my view remaining as long as you can uk. Ideal- so people get the commitment of your follow through."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa May survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how BUT the people over here have no balls" and noted "Boris ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to step up".

May was eventually removed in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of no confidence in December 2018.

A spokesman for the political party informed media: "Farage has not been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence such a meeting occurred.

The Congress will vote soon on whether the justice department should make public all its records related to its investigation into Epstein, who died in prison in that year.

Interest in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was renewed this week after the publication of over 20,000 pages from his archives.

Some of those referenced the former president, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for years, but says they parted ways in the early 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was initially charged.
